Areas We Cover
LeakSleuth works from Scunthorpe across Lincolnshire, South Yorkshire, north Nottinghamshire and the Humber. Our six main areas each have a page describing the local housing, the water company and the methods that suit it; the other towns are covered below. Every survey is a fixed price agreed on the phone before we travel, with the same insurer-ready report wherever you are, and every detection method on the van.
Our six main areas
Scunthorpe
Home ground. No travel charges in North Lincolnshire, steelworks-era terraces and estates, and the villages out to the Isle of Axholme.
Leak detection in Scunthorpe →Grimsby
The Marsh terraces, Nunsthorpe, Scartho and the docks, plus Cleethorpes, Immingham and the villages. About 40 minutes by the M180 and A180.
Leak detection in Grimsby →Hull
Tenfoot terraces, the Avenues, Bransholme, Kingswood and the East Riding villages, on ground where damp readings alone mislead.
Leak detection in Hull →Lincoln
Uphill period stone and downhill Victorian terraces, the Ermine estate, Birchwood and the new estates at Hykeham and Welton.
Leak detection in Lincoln →Doncaster
Pit villages, railway terraces, Bessacarr, Cantley and Lakeside, plus Thorne, Bawtry, Tickhill and Mexborough. About 35 minutes by the M18.
Leak detection in Doncaster →Sheffield
Hillside terraces, converted villas, the big estates and the Peak edge villages, where escaping water surfaces downhill from the leak.
Leak detection in Sheffield →More towns we cover
Leak detection in Barnsley
Barnsley's stone terraces climb steep ground, and water escaping from a supply pipe on a gradient can track along the trench and surface well below the actual fault. The borough's mining legacy adds made ground and much-altered services in Wombwell, Hoyland, Royston, Darfield and the pit villages between, so chasing the damp is a poor guide to where the pipe failed. We isolate the leaking system by pressure test, trace the real pipe route, then pinpoint with acoustics, tracer gas or thermal imaging. Yorkshire Water supplies the borough, and Penistone and the Pennine edge are covered by arrangement. The same hillside approach is described on our Sheffield page, and every report is written for a trace and access claim.
Leak detection in Barton-upon-Humber
Barton-upon-Humber's period brick cottages and town-centre properties are classic hidden-leak territory: solid floors, pipework re-routed over generations, and more than a few galvanised and lead services still quietly in use. When one finally pinholes, the first sign is usually damp at skirting level or a meter that will not sit still. Minutes from the Humber Bridge and well inside our home patch, Barton gets the same fixed prices as Scunthorpe, and return visits for repair are easy. We regularly attend Barrow upon Humber, Goxhill, South Ferriby, Ulceby and Winterton. Anglian Water supplies the area. See water leak detection and central heating leak detection for the surveys we run here most.
Leak detection in Beverley
Beverley's historic core is full of properties where getting a leak investigation wrong is expensive: Georgian townhouses, listed buildings and conservation-area homes where floors, tiles and plasterwork cannot be lifted on suspicion. Non-invasive detection was made for this. We prove the leak by pressure test, map the pipe routes, and pinpoint with thermal imaging, acoustics or tracer gas so that any opening up is minimal and precisely placed, with a report a loss adjuster can act on for the trace and access claim. The newer estates at Molescroft and Woodmansey get the same treatment with less ceremony. Yorkshire Water supplies the town. We also attend Leconfield, Walkington, Bishop Burton and Cherry Burton, reached through Hull.
Leak detection in Boston
Boston and the fens around it sit on some of the wettest ground in Lincolnshire, criss-crossed by drains and with a water table that keeps sub-floor voids damp as a matter of course. A damp meter reads wet under half the floors in town, so what proves a leak here is flow evidence: meter and pressure testing with everything off, followed by pinpointing over the traced pipe route. The older housing carries ageing metal services that suit the acoustic kit, while tracer gas handles plastic pipe and thermal imaging maps heating circuits through solid floors. Anglian Water supplies the area. We attend Kirton, Swineshead, Sibsey, Wyberton and Fishtoft, with the survey price fixed before we travel south past Lincoln.
Leak detection in Brigg
Brigg's market-town centre mixes period cottages and shop conversions with newer housing on the edges, and the older stock hides leaks well: solid floors laid over heating pipes, extensions that buried a supply run, and cellars that stay damp long after the leak started. Out in the Ancholme valley villages, long private supply pipes across gardens and paddocks are a regular culprit. Ten minutes from our Scunthorpe workshop, Brigg is home patch, with no travel charge and easy return visits. Every survey carries thermal imaging, acoustic equipment and tracer gas, so the leak is proven and marked in one visit. We regularly attend Wrawby, Broughton, Hibaldstow, Scawby and Caistor. Anglian Water supplies the area. Boiler losing pressure? Start with central heating leak detection.
Leak detection in Cleethorpes
Cleethorpes adds a seaside twist. Guest houses and holiday lets often discover a hidden leak only through an unexplained water bill, because nobody is resident long enough to notice the early signs, and salt air is unkind to external pipework and fittings. The resort's older terraced streets carry the same ageing supply runs as neighbouring Grimsby, on the same low, wet ground. We prove which system is losing water by pressure test, image through floors, and pinpoint with tracer gas or acoustics before anything is lifted. For landlords and letting businesses we work around changeover days and report in writing for any trace and access claim. Humberston, New Waltham and Tetney are covered too. Anglian Water supplies the area. See water leak detection.
Leak detection in Gainsborough
Gainsborough's Victorian terraces near the Trent and its newer estates on the eastern edge produce two familiar patterns: ageing metal supplies under long back yards in the old streets, and plastic barrier pipe fittings under screeded floors in the new builds. Riverside ground stays damp naturally, so proving whether moisture is a leak or the Trent's influence takes instruments rather than a damp meter and a guess. We isolate the system under pressure, trace pipe routes, and confirm every find with a second method before recommending any opening up. Anglian Water supplies the town, an easy run down the A159 from Scunthorpe and half an hour from Lincoln. Morton, Lea, Blyton, Corringham and Marton are covered. See acoustic leak detection.
Leak detection in Goole
Goole is one of the lowest-lying towns in England, and like Hull that changes leak behaviour completely. The clay ground holds water, the water table sits high, and background damp is a fact of life, so a wet reading under a floor proves very little by itself. Distinguishing a genuine pipe leak from the ground doing what Goole's ground does takes flow evidence and two-method confirmation, and that is how we survey here. The port town's terraces carry older metal services that suit acoustic detection, while tracer gas handles plastic pipe on the newer estates and thermal imaging maps heating circuits. Yorkshire Water supplies the area. Howden, Snaith, Rawcliffe, Airmyn and Swinefleet are covered via the M62 and M18.
Leak detection in Grantham
Grantham's Victorian terraces and its fast-growing modern estates bookend the usual leak spectrum: century-old metal supplies under the older streets, and plastic barrier pipe with push-fit joints under screed on the new developments along the A1 corridor. Recent building is no protection; a screw through a pipe at first fix can take years to rust through and leak. We cover Grantham and the villages around it with fixed-price surveys: pressure testing to isolate, electronic tracing to map the pipes, then thermal imaging, acoustics or tracer gas to pinpoint. Anglian Water supplies the area, as it does Lincoln to the north. Barrowby, Great Gonerby, Colsterworth, Ancaster and Long Bennington are covered. New-build with a wet floor? See underfloor heating leak detection and water leak detection.
Leak detection in Louth
Louth's Georgian and Victorian streets are handsome, and handsomely awkward for leak hunting: solid floors, thick walls, and plumbing that has been extended and re-routed since long before anyone kept drawings. Springs and becks running off the Wolds keep parts of the town naturally damp, so telling ground moisture from a genuine leak needs flow evidence, not just a meter reading. We survey Louth and the Wolds villages with the complete toolkit, including thermal imaging, and confirm every find with two independent methods before recommending any opening up. Anglian Water supplies the area. Reports are written for trace and access claims, which matters in period properties where reinstatement is the expensive part. Legbourne, Binbrook, Alford, Mablethorpe and North Somercotes are covered, usually on the way back from Grimsby.
Leak detection in Retford
Retford's Georgian market-town core has the classic period-property leak profile: generous solid floors, pipework threaded through the building over two centuries of alterations, and cellars where a slow leak can drip unnoticed for months. The villages around add long rural supply runs where a pinhole under a paddock can waste a great deal of water before the bill gives it away. We prove the loss with pressure and flow testing, trace the actual pipe routes, and pinpoint with the method the evidence calls for: acoustics on metal, tracer gas on plastic or drained systems, thermal imaging on heating circuits. Severn Trent supplies the area. Ordsall, Ranskill, Sutton cum Lound, Tuxford and Markham Moor are covered via the A1 or through Doncaster and Bawtry.
Leak detection in Rotherham
Rotherham shares Sheffield's geology and much of its housing character: stone and brick terraces on sloping ground, where escaping water travels downhill inside the ground and surfaces a long way from the leak itself. Chasing the wet patch is how floors get dug up in the wrong place; instrumented detection over the actual pipe route is how the leak gets found. Across the borough and the Dearne valley towns we use the full kit: acoustic ground microphones and correlation for the older metal services, tracer gas where plastic pipe keeps quiet, and thermal imaging for buried heating circuits. Yorkshire Water supplies the area. Wickersley, Maltby, Rawmarsh, Wath upon Dearne and Swinton are covered, an easy turn off the M18 on the way to Sheffield.
Leak detection in Selby
Selby's abbey quarter brings period properties with deep solid floors and pipework that has been re-routed for generations, while the town's growing estates add the modern pattern: plastic pipe, screeded floors, and boilers that lose pressure with nothing visible anywhere. Low-lying ground near the Ouse keeps background moisture high enough that damp readings alone mislead, as they do in Hull and Goole, so we prove every find with flow evidence and a second method. Yorkshire Water supplies the area. Surveys are fixed price, booked around you, and end with a marked leak location plus a written report formatted for trace and access claims. Brayton, Barlby, Riccall, Cawood and Sherburn in Elmet are covered, reached by the M62 and A19. Pressure loss? See central heating leak detection.
Leak detection in Worksop
Worksop's mix runs from Victorian terraces near the town centre to large modern estates on the edges, with plenty of former colliery housing in between, and each fails differently. The terraces carry old metal supplies that acoustic equipment hears well; the estates hide plastic pipework that only tracer gas will find; and the in-between stock buries heating circuits in concrete floors that thermal imaging reads in minutes. North Nottinghamshire sits on Severn Trent's patch, and private responsibility usually begins at the outside stop tap. We isolate, trace and pinpoint from there in a single fixed-price visit, with a written report for your insurer if the repair needs floors or ground opened. Carlton in Lindrick, Shireoaks, Langold, Whitwell and Anston are covered, between Doncaster and Sheffield.
Not on the list? Call anyway. The villages between these towns are all covered, and we travel further for commercial and insurance instructions by arrangement. Not sure it is a leak at all? Start with the signs of a hidden water leak.
